Erik Knutson, M.Sc. is the Principle Investigator and Chief Architect

The Health Science Index core algorithm was created using some of the same methods as used on current research projects. Using the Health Science Index's comprehensive approach, the process includes careful investigation, using academic involvement, with peer-reviewed methods, backed up by relevant experimentation. Each undertaking relies on an initial “research design" which brings together specific project concepts, key questions, and methods to be utilized for investigating a particular project.

Research Approach

Each research project is designed based on the Principle Investigator’s assumptions, test criteria and subsequent experiments.

Researcher Questions

The survey questions are designed and written with the understanding that how they are asked has a bearing on how they are answered.

Quality Assurance

Validation is used to check the input data to ensure it conforms with the data structure and specs of the research design to avoid errors.

Data Cloud

Storing data during a research project needs to be reachable, safe and private. A segregated cloud storage location allows the safe sharing of online data

Process Overview

  • Applied Research – research is based on the project's objectives
  • Investigations – using HSI's thorough approach, the process includes careful investigation with peer-reviewed methods
  • Interview Process – technique is carefully constructed
  • Experimentation – early survey versions test questions and assumptions
  • Controlled Variables – variables are mapped and well understood
  • Sequence – for each research effort there is a specific progression

Each research effort is put forth with the end in mind

Each undertaking relies on an initial “research design" which brings together specific project concepts, key questions, and methods to be utilized for investigating a particular project.
